• CD Type: β (beta)
• Derivative: Permethylated (all available -OH groups methylated)
• Temp. Limits: -10 °C to 200 °C (isothermal) or 220 °C (programmed)

    Incorporates a phase consisting of a 2,3,6-tri-O-methyl derivative of β-cyclodextrin. This phase exhibits broad chiral selectivity ａnd is good for terpenes ａnd tertiary amines.

    The permethylated beta-cyclodextrin is a stationary phase that has indicated a potential to separate a wide variety of racemates. Many of those separations are better resolved on other CHIRALDEX phases based on lower retention, better selectivity ａnd greater efficiency. What the PM does especially well are some hydrocarbons like terpenes, certain underivatized alcohols ａnd diols ａnd some analytes with polar groups like tertiary amines.

• Beta most selective of cyclodextrins

Mechanism Observations:

• Inclusion a dominant mechanism
• Highest temperature stability of CHIRALDEX phases along with the DM

Size Selectivity: 

    Some size selectivity is evident with the permethylated phase. The beta form will cover a broad range of molecule sizes.
